Where are the Sanicha residences?+
Sanicha has four residences in Universitas, Bloemfontein: 1 Weitz Street, 5 Sergeant Street, 75 President Paul Kruger Avenue and 93 President Paul Kruger Avenue — all close to the University of the Free State.
What accommodation types are there?+
Single rooms (communal bathroom and kitchen), sharing rooms and bachelor flats (private bathroom and kitchenette). Some bachelor flats are available for sharing.
What does it cost?+
Per the 2027 lease: single room R5 000/month, sharing R4 700/month, bachelor flat R5 000–R5 500/month. A refundable breakage fee is payable before moving in (R2 000 single/bachelor, R500 sharing room). Prices are confirmed by Sanicha.
When does the lease run?+
The 2027 lease runs from 1 February 2027 to 31 December 2027 (11 months). A minimum of one month's notice is required to terminate early.
Do you accept NSFAS?+
Yes. NSFAS-funded students are welcome; proof of NSFAS acceptance is required to sign the lease. You should also apply for the UFS private accommodation allowance promptly.
Which residences have a swimming pool?+
5 Sergeant Street and 93 President Paul Kruger Avenue have a swimming pool. 1 Weitz Street and 75 President Paul Kruger Avenue do not.
Is there a shuttle service?+
No. Sanicha does not run a shuttle or any transport to or from campus. All four residences are within walking distance of the University of the Free State — each residence page shows the exact distance.
Who do I contact?+
The residence manager is Mrs Sandrine. Maintenance is handled separately by the property caretaker; details are provided after you apply.
